Measured Paper

FREE / PRECISE / PRINTABLE

Print at actual size.

One printer setting can change every measurement on the page.

1. Match the paper size

Select A4, US Letter or A5 in the generator to match the sheet in your printer. A4 is 210 × 297 mm; US Letter is 215.9 × 279.4 mm; A5 is 148 × 210 mm. These sizes are not interchangeable.

2. Download and open the PDF

Use the PDF download for printing. Open the file in a PDF viewer, then open its print dialog. The browser preview is reduced to fit your screen and cannot tell you the printed spacing.

3. Choose 100% or “actual size”

Turn off options called “fit,” “shrink oversized pages” or “scale to fit.” Avoid borderless expansion, which can enlarge a document beyond 100%. Choose the same orientation as your file. Keep a margin around the grid so your printer does not clip the outer lines.

4. Measure the calibration bar

Leave “50 mm print check” enabled, print one sheet and measure the line from its first tick to its last tick. It should be 50 mm, or 5 cm, long. If it measures 48 mm, the print has shrunk to 96% of its intended size. Check the print settings and repeat before relying on the grid.

If the edges are clipped

Increase the margin in the generator, then download the PDF again. Fitting the existing file to the printable area changes its grid spacing. A larger margin with actual-size printing preserves the chosen spacing.
